Basic MTB Skills Course for Female Coaches & HS Girls
May 4 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pmFree
For 2019, we are offering a series of ride leading and basic mountain biking skills clinics. This date is reserved for current and potential MiSCA female Coaches and HS girls and is required for all adults planning to teach mountain bike skills to riders (level 3 coaches). Following the completion of the skills clinic, the ride guide clinic will be offered for those still requiring completion (level 2 and 3 coaches).
This clinic is open to Females ages 16 and up. Meeting at the Meadow Pavilion at Island Lake Recreation Area. All participants must be active members of MiSCA, having registered for the 2019 Annual Coach & Rider registration.
Learn basic mountain bike skills for safe ride leading and practices. This course covers riding positions, shifting, braking, cornering, timing and pressure control, and pre-ride bike checks so that participants can ride efficiently and safely. MiSCA strives to maintain a modern, consistent level of skill among all MiSCA coaches so they can model safe and current riding technique.
Certifications offered by other organizations such as BICP, NICA, or PMBI will fulfill this requirement. Register for courses and submit your certificates in your SI Play MiSCA Annual Registration.
This course will be facilitated by Heather McNamara, MiSCA’s Director of Coaching, member of the Board of Directors, and PMBIA Level 1 instructor.
