DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nCost: Included with MiSCA coach registration (in-person)Time: Approximately 3-4 HoursPrerequisite: Essential MTB Skills\n\n\n\nDuring rides with student-athletes, coaches have the unique opportunity to reinforce good riding habits and techniques. The Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association offers three levels of skills instruction for coaches. At this second level, we will expand upon the essential skills previously taught and provide a framework to teach the next progression of mountain bike skills.\n\n\n\nThe skill descriptions and teaching points covered in this course will introduce you to the common language and terminology used to instruct team members.  \n\n\n\nESSENTIAL SKILLS IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO TAKING INTERMEDIATE SKILLS\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR THIS EVENT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event takes place at Burchfield Park: 881 Grovenburg Rd, Holt, MI 48842.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nObjectives:\n\n\n\n\nCoaches will be able to set up a skills instruction session\n\n\n\nCoaches will be able to teach and demonstrate the Intermediate Skills\n\n\n\nCoaches will be able to detect rider errors and provide appropriate corrections\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSkills Included:\n\n\n\n\nBody position progression\n\n\n\nBody and foot wedging\n\n\n\nBraking progressions\n\n\n\nIntermediate cornering\n\n\n\nRatcheting\n\n\n\nStraight-line riding \n\n\n\nRock dodge/tight turns\n\n\n\nElbow bumping/close proximity riding\n\n\n\nSprinting/standing starts\n\n\n\nSwitchback turns\n\n\n\nLevel Lifts\n\n\n\nFront and rear wheel lifts\n\n\n\nRoll downs\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will receive a certificate upon course completion, and we will automatically update your CCN profile to show completion.\n\n\n\n\n
