DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nCost: Included with MiSCA coach registration (in-person)Time: Approximately 3-4 HoursPrerequisite: Coaching on the Trail\n\n\n\nDuring rides with student-athletes, coaches have the unique opportunity to reinforce good riding habits and techniques. The Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association offers three levels of skills instruction for coaches. At this second level, we will expand upon the essential skills previously taught and provide a framework to teach the next progression of mountain bike skills.\n\n\n\nThe skill descriptions and teaching points covered in this course will introduce you to the common language and terminology used to instruct team members.  \n\n\n\nCOACHING ON THE TRAIL IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO TAKING ESSENTIAL SKILLS\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER FOR THIS EVENT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event takes place at Manhattan Park – 331 Cascade Rd SE, East Grand Rapids, MI 49506.\n\n\n\n\nObjectives:\n\n\n\n\nCoaches will be able to set up a skills instruction session\n\n\n\nCoaches will be able to teach and demonstrate the Essential Skills\n\n\n\nCoaches will be able to detect rider errors and provide appropriate corrections\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSkills Included:\n\n\n\n\nNeutral and Ready Position\n\n\n\nBraking\n\n\n\nSide to Side Bike/Body Separation\n\n\n\nForward and Back Bike/Body Separation\n\n\n\nIntro to Cornering\n\n\n\nTight Turns\n\n\n\nShifting\n\n\n\nClimbing\n\n\n\nSeated climbing\n\n\n\nCrouched climbing\n\n\n\nStanding climb\n\n\n\nClimbing Dismount\n\n\n\nClimbing Restart\n\n\n\nDescending Dismount\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will receive a certificate upon course completion, and we will automatically update your CCN profile to show completion.\n\n\n\n\n
