Quick Addison Recap

Just WOW! Our biggest race EVER definitely brushed the dust off. We had a total of 203 registered racers on Sunday, more than double last year's Addison race. Even more exciting was the diversity of the crowd. We were awarded medals 5-deep in 8 of 10 categories and we had 47 competing in Elementary age groups. These kids are the future of the sport! We also organized a team tent area that provided a really fun atmosphere for everyone involved. Hopefully you'll be riding your bike this long Labor Day weekend, we'll see you Sunday, 9/10 at Island Lake!

3 Steps for MiSCA T-Shirt

We ordered more shirts and they'll be here in time for the Island Lake race 9/10. Everyone who got shirts at Addison had pre-ordered them on BikeReg and we needed to make sure everyone who already paid received their shirts first. Update on NICA: MiSCA Will Continue Independently

It is with mixed emotions we announce that MiSCA will not transition into a NICA League. Our bid was approved, but there were a few provisions that could not be agreed upon. There have been some changes at NICA since we started discussions last year and the MiSCA Board felt it was no longer a good fit for our organization. It's definitely a letdown because we put a lot of time and effort into the process. We recognize that the NICA model is clearly successful, so we will be making several changes for 2018. One major change is rider, team, and coach registrations for the "League", which will cover liability and race entry fees for the entire riding season. Additionally, we will provide our coaches with training and more resources to better teach kids and manage teams. We are extremely excited for the future and we knew, regardless of our relationship with NICA, that 2018 would be a year of change and growth for MiSCA.

MiSCA Moms Group

Did you know there's a Facebook Group just for MiSCA Moms? OK, so we let Dads and Coaches in too, but still... pretty cool! This is a great place to share pictures, ask questions, and interact with parents from different teams. It's a closed group, so just submit your request to join.

Calling all Leadership-Minded Student-Athletes!

The Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association (MiSCA) is pleased to introduce the Student Advisory Committee. We are seeking current or recent MiSCA student-athletes to provide input on the direction of the organization. Through attending regular MiSCA Board meetings and working on projects, committee members will learn about organizational leadership, decision making, fundraising, event planning, and teamwork. All interested and committed students are encouraged to apply, regardless of age or racing ability. Applications to join the Student Advisory Committee must be submitted by September 15 to be considered.

Helping our Fellow Riders!

We are committed to making our events accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation, to the best of our ability. We reviewed applications for financial assistance and were able to approve all of the requests! Scholarships awarded covered the entire race entry fees for the all races in the D&D Bicycles 2017 MiSCA Race Series. This is the first year we've offered this and we couldn't do it without the help from our supporters and sponsors. THANK YOU!

MiSCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization hosting mountain bike events throughout Michigan for elementary, middle, and high school-aged students.
